FORGET ME NOT

What was it I said to Miranda, as I walked her along to the gate?
I'm sure it was something important - something that just couldn't wait.
I seem to be having this problem, remembering things done and said,
And as soon as I've had an idea, it vanishes out of my head.

I've a tendency also to lose things. A fault I don't like to admit.
My car keys I found in the oven - it's fortunate it wasn't lit.
I just don't know how they got in there, unless it has something to do
With the pastie I found in my handbag. I suppose I just mixed up the two.

As we stood at the gate I remembered. We were to go shopping today,
And I turned to tell..Oh Heavens! - What was her name? But she'd
already gone on her way.
If I could just think of her number, I'd phone to remind her of this.
She's such a good neighbour, with only one fault - You know how forgetful she is!
