Poetry: True joy

A SUNNY DAY

Clouds all gone, a new sun shining,
Bulging traders' pocket lining.
Ice cream sellers outside schools,
Deck chair hire and swimming pools.
Barbecues, iced glasses tinkling,
Sun loungers out, lawn hose sprinkling.

Close your eyes and drift away
From work and woe and every day.
Forgotten dreams of might have been,
Could have done, should have seen.
Let warmth and light dispel regret.
Forgive yourself, let go, forget.

Let heart and mind embrace the sun
Let laughter rule, give way to fun.
Life's just a game- nothing is real,
No matter how grim or serious you feel.
You're just a number, a card in the pack
So trust in the dealer and never look back.

Breathe in the sunshine and float on the tide,
Make the most of the day just enjoying the ride
With friends who enrich and enliven your soul,
And with family loving and making you whole,
Recharging your batteries, abolishing pain
Lighting your spirit again and again.
