Poetry: Inner struggles

NO END IN SIGHT

When will the madness stop, I just want it to end;
I have been on life's roller coaster, as far back as I can remember when.
I tell myself each year, I will make this year my best;
Just when I think my fortunes have changed, it turns out to be an empty chest.
Up and down, sometimes I feel like I'm on a see-saw;
One moment I'm full of joy, the other moments I feel like I'm being punished like I broke the law.
I work hard on my job, however I never seem to get ahead;
Could make a career change but the growing pains I really would dread.
I have been down this road before, I'm really not looking for a new change;
How can one person have so many obstacles, it's really very strange.
Sometimes I feel paranoid, thinking what can happen next;
That is not a positive way to live, almost like I'm living with a hex.
Tomorrow is a new day, I will try this all over again;
Wishing for some good luck, just maybe I will free myself from the ball & chain.
