Guide to beaches near Cancun, Mexico

For me, to have the most enjoyable time at a beach in Cancun, I maintain the business acronym, KISSKeep It Simple, Stupid.
When at the beach, I swim, snorkel "Chilax," (chill and relax), or girl-watch (I am married, but I'm still an "XY").
Thus being explained, my time is spent in primarily three beaches.
Playa Tortugas is my primary choice. . Easily accessible, this beach is lively and vibrant, with a party atmosphere. Generally, the college crowd, with non-stop action, and ever-so-smaller bikinis, frequents this beach. Ideal for sports like kayaking, snorkeling and para-sailing, this beach is flawless for the enthusiast. Swimming and general relaxation is a stretch, because there are so many activities going on, and far too much noise to relax.

When I want to merely swim, lie on the beach and read a book, or visit a ruin or two, my choice is San Miguelito. There are a few Mayan ruins, inviting to historians, and the curious alike. The beach is pristine, and this is really the place to enjoy the sun and tropical breezes. It is never very crowded at Miguelito, so it always feels like it's your own private beach. Very enjoyable benefits of this beach are the local "salespeople" offering fresh pina coladas, straw hats, and live songs.
If you want a romantic or relaxing beach experience, Miguelito should be at the top of your list.

Every now and then, a person will see something that makes them touch their temple and say "hmmmm." Punta Brava has been the place to arouse my curiosity time and time again. The waves are gentle, the sun is warming, and the sights are beautiful. Cancun is known for its fun-filled days, and visitors to Punta Brava will not be disappointed. While there are occasional topless bathers on Brava, it is not the norm. There does seem to be many more women visitors to this beach than mennot that it's a problem, it isinteresting. My last visit to Punta Brava gave me a volleyball game to watch, an all-girls football game, and the weirdest relay race I've ever seen. The baton was a banana that the participants held (and transferred) by mouth! Needless to say, I'm not sure which team won.

I've been to Cancun several times, and I've experienced many of her beaches, but thus far, Playa Tortugas, San Miguelito and Punta Brava are the best.
