I have always envied those who take great photographs. I especially loved what I call reality shots. I especially loved nature. I was working in Prince Edward Island as a waitress at the time. I decided to spend a weekend snapping photos of wild life. A lot of wild flowers were still in bloom, and a few autumn ones were peeking around trees and rock formations. A spring bubbled in the distance, and all nature was enjoying the late summer sun. Squirrels scampered gathering food for winter, and many birds were getting ready to leave for the winter. I had all I needed to keep me happy for many hours, as did my friends.
I had a chance to go to a local park with some special girl friends from work. We were just walking around enjoying the gorgeous weather, and the beauty of the park. It was another picture perfect day, with the sun warm on our backs. The sky had a few clouds gently floating overhead. I was taking pictures of the flowers, and I actually got a super shot of a deer strolling with her baby. Everything was going well, and I had gotten a nice variety of pictures. However, we decided it was time to take a break, and have some lunch. We had fried chicken, salad, cheese rolls and drinks.
It was the beginning of September, and we were experiencing the delights of Indian summer. This often lasted a couple of weeks and was the perfect time to get out and enjoy the freedom to walk nature trails, hike or whatever. We just preferred taking pictures. I have been blessed as to how many wonderful pictures presented them to me.
I decided to relax for a spell. And so I lay down to watch the clouds roll by. They put on a splendid show. The sky was an alarming blue, almost blinding in its brilliance. I lay there for almost thirty minutes, and was going to get up. But then a cloud formation caught my eye. I stopped, and looked again.
For a minute, I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me. Perhaps the sun was in my eyes. However, no, as I kept watching and it seemed to move and rearrange itself. They were rather dark, but had a glow about them .I thought I must be imagining things. It could not be.
I grabbed my camera, and began taking shot after shot. I kept my eyes on the cloud formation that was forming a masterpiece before me. I had a strange sensation that, something like a religious experience was unfolding for my benefit only. I kept taking shot after shot. I was compelled to lower the camera, and just stare. My friends had been watching me, watch the clouds, they were amazed at the grandeur of the sight, we all thought it was a trick of the sun, or maybe we were all simply a little tired for all that exercise, and hot sun. But we all soon realized that something very unusual was happening. We all had seen little pictures in the clouds many times. When we were kids, we saw shapes all the time. We saw bunny rabbits, goldfish, cartoon characters, and other such things. Some even saw great works of art, and sailing ships. This day was one I would never forget and the cloud formation one I had to capture, for all time. I stood amazed as the clouds moved, swayed, and seemed to take shape. It happened just as I say, and I gave the picture to my mum.
As we all watched, I snapped away. The clouds were a perfect picture of an angel. Her wings were spread, and you could actually see her features. It was not blurry, nor did it drift about as so many cloud formations did. It became an angel, and then the wings seemed to magically unfurl. Quite large in size and the loveliest thing I had ever seen.
We stood amazed. I felt like I was witness to a miracle, I also felt that I was receiving some kind of special message from God. We continued to watch for about ten more minutes. The wings were the first to slowly disappear, they seemed to be retracted, and then the body of the angel just sort of vanished, behind the gathering clouds.
I was still standing there when my friends had gathered up all our stuff. The weather seemed to take a turn, and the wind picked up.
We decided it was time to leave for home, and perhaps some supper. We could not talk enough about what we had all seen.
When I got home later, I decided to work in the dark room for a spell. I developed some film and what, to my surprise came up, but the shots of the clouds.
The great surprise was that the shots were perfect in every way; I had a picture of a beautiful angel, poised in the clouds over the park. It was breath taking to say the least. I had an honest to goodness angel in my picture, her wings outstretched and her form aglow, with what appeared an inner light. I was thrilled, and called my fiends to come check it out.
Well needless to say, I had that shot blown up, and framed. I had many a comment about it I can assure you. I hung it in my apartment, and thanked God I was given such a blessing. I still watch for another such great experience. Who knows, it could happen.
