The benefits of a reverse osmosis water filter

The biggest benefit of installing a reverse osmosis water filtering system in your home is that you have the best unit to remove total dissolved solids from your drinking water. You are doing so at the point of use, meaning that as soon as you get the water out of the unit it is ready for use immediately.

Water is going to absorb a little bit of everything it comes in contact with, until the water molecules are full. By removing the impurities at the point of use, things like tea, coffee, or even mixed drinks will taste better. You will also find that you will use less coffee or tea, because the water is now as pure as you are going to get it and will absorb the full flavor. Most people find that if they continue to use the same amount of whatever they are mixing with the water, it is stronger; therefore you save money and have a better tasting drink by using less.

The US Navy has used reverse osmosis for years on ships to turn salt water into potable drinking water. Reverse osmosis filtering systems over the years have become more affordable because of the growing amount of companies that are making water filtration systems for home use. You can go to places like Home Depot, Lowes, and many large chain home improvement stores, to purchase affordable units. Though reverse osmosis has been around for a long time only large commercial uses were exploited first. Because of the many health benefits associated with purifying water for home use the systems have become more affordable for the typical homeowner.

Replacement filters are available at the stores which carry reverse osmosis systems for home use. It is important to change the filters as often as the manufacturers recommend to keep your filter from growing bacteria and working to its best capacity. Having owned a whole house filtration system for many years myself I can not imagine going back to a public water system without the many benefits that come from reverse osmosis filtration. Not only is the water better for you, because dangerous dissolved solids such as mercury have been removed, but everything you mix with the reverse osmosis filtered water just plain tastes better. I would only recommend use of reverse osmosis filtered water with mixing coffee, tea, or Kool-Aid and cooking. I would not suggest that you use it to wash dishes in or to clean your kitchen. There are more economic whole house water filtration systems that will do those jobs.
