Grey early morning mist
Settles down in front of this
Wonderful scene I'm looking on
A life reflected in a golden pond.
See there, the tower square
The clock, strikingly shocks
All who have gathered to walk
In this most beautiful park.
The old men there
Sit and play checkers at ease
Pigeons on the cobblestones
Peck and hunt bees
Old bird woman, calling for pence
Smiles and beckons you hence
And for all that it's worth
You smile and walk on.
Green grassy knolls
Are taking a toll
On theaters and sundae shops
Where lovers used to walk.
Here in the park,
You can see it all.
Young and old,
Life is never gray in sunshine.
