I CAN DO BETTER
I can do better
if I really try
Sometimes I am lazy
and I don't know why
My mind seems to wander
when I am at school
I just can't stop talking
or follow the rules.
My marks, they are slipping.
In trouble I'll be.
Things were never so tough.
What's the matter with me?
But today I will promise
along with the rest,
To make more of an effort
and give it my best.
I'll do all my homework.
I'll listen today.
I'll try to work harder,
get farther that way.
I'll keep all my notes
from now on up to date
Be on time for my classes
and never be late.
Now is the time
to look out for myself
Take time out to study,
take books off the shelf.
Now is the time,
up to me to decide
If I'm ready for life
or just here for the ride.

As I look in the mirror, Who do I see?
Is that really an image of me?
Who is that stranger looking back from the mirror?

A teachers voice resounds loudly.
Her instructions mulled over by the kids.
Seeing their disinterest
she wonders
