Tired of those annoying advertisements constantly assaulting your internet experience? Is your computer slowing down from the flashing, scrolling popups that appear whenever you surf the net? Fortunately, there are several extremely simple ways to end pop ups.
One way to solve your pop up problem is to install Mozilla Firefox. For those unfamiliar with it, Firefox is a free open-source internet browser which is extremely effective at blocking advertisements on its own. Furthermore, Firefox includes support for add-ons, which are various utilities that can be downloaded in order to streamline the internet experience. One such add on is Adblock. It extends the built-in popup blocker already included in Firefox to filter out even more popups, reducing the number of advertisements dramatically.
But what about those people who, for some reason or another, don't want to switch to Firefox? Fortunately there are still several ways to eliminate popups via methods which work across most browsers.
The simplest is to get a free toolbar from a company like Yahoo!, Google, or MSN. Depending on which one's features you need the most, you may prefer one over the other. All of these have built in popup blockers which will clean up the advertisements you would otherwise have had to endure. The added bonus of one-click email and web search, along with other features, makes toolbars a popular choice.
If you are using Microsoft's Internet Explorer for your browsing needs, then you shouldn't be troubled by too many popups as long as you keep up with regular updates. As long as you are using at least version 6 of Internet Explorer you should be fine. Best results are achieved when using IE6 in combination with the Windows XP Service Pack 2, which is available for free download by Windows users from Microsoft's websit . SP2 adds a very effective blocker to Internet Explorer that, when used in combination with any of the other methods on this page, should end your popup troubles once and for all.
Finally, you can try out a popup blocking program, like Panicware's Popup Stopper, which is either free or available at a price, with more features included. It works pretty much the same whether you pay for it or opt for the free version, the difference lying in the toolbar support and other small features.
With such a multitude of options available, there should be no reason for you to have to endure even a single popup. We all know how annoying they can be, but with the tools mentioned above, annoying popups are a thing of the past.
