Love, attention, accolades, gifts these are all wonderful things to want. When you ponder over the items you would like in your life, how many do you actually have? The difference between having these and not is in receiving; that ability to allow into our lives all that we truly desire. We've been programmed to give, give, give with an underlying message that to receive is selfish or greedy. Yet, if one person wants to give, there needs to be someone at the other end to receive.
Being able to receive starts with giving to self; giving oneself time, patience, love, acceptance, acknowledgment, pleasure and so on. If we can't give to ourselves we will have difficulty receiving from others, whether from our supervisors and colleagues at work, or our family, friends and others in our personal lives. So whatever we've been wanting and feel is missing from our lives, we need to first give it to ourselves.
It's not as though the Universe has created a good and bad list of who to give to and not give to. We can basically have whatever we want as long as we can allow it into our lives. Our beliefs, attitude and energy will determine what we can have. If we want more love, we need to feel the energy of love already within us and release any underlying beliefs that we are not lovable. If we want to be acknowledged and accepted by others, we have to have an accepting attitude towards our self and others. If we want to experience ease, joy and fun in life, we have to operate from that state of being. Like attracts like, it's as simple as that.
Ask yourself the following questions to gain more insight into how to receive what you want:
* Make a list of all the things you currently have in your life that you feel good about (the tangible and intangible). Congratulate yourself on allowing and receiving these into your life. Now make a list of all the things you currently don't have in your life but want to have.
* Read over the list of things you want and ask yourself why you don't have them. Notice if you are blaming others or circumstances for not having these. Be brave and look deeper into yourself to see if you have any limiting beliefs or attitudes that may be interfering.
* Reflect on other people you know who have wonderful things in their life and notice their mood, attitude and behavior. Is it in line with what they have in their life? What might their underlying beliefs be about themselves and the world?
Try these inspiring ideas to increase your ability to receive what you want in your life:
* Read over your list of things you currently have in your life and feel the energy of gratitude bubbling within. Focus daily on all the things you are grateful for in your life as this attitude will support you in attracting more wonderful things into your life.
* Read over the list of things you don't have but would like to have in your life. Next to each item, write down the attitude and belief you need to have in order to attract and receive these into your life. Find ways to shift your attitude into this new state so it becomes a natural part of you. Affirm the new belief until it replaces any opposing belief.
* As you go through your day with a new attitude and supportive beliefs, if anything within you begins to interfere, such as negative mood or limiting belief, imagine letting it go as though it were a piece of paper you were throwing out or an article of clothing you were taking off. As you let it go, replace it with your new attitude and belief.
