Music has enhanced my life through my teenage years. My musical taste has changed, not a great deal, but ever so slightly. Through my anxsty phase I have noticed that there are bands that are really progressing, changing, and molding the minds of us young rebels.
The top five progressive bands would have to be Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance, Marilyn Manson, Three Days Grace, and Paramore. All of these bands are diverse and show a variety in their music as well as relating well to teenagers. Not only this, but these bands have progressed so much since they started their musicianship; whether it be they changed their music genre or they have recently climbed to the top of the music charts.
Fall Out Boy has been around since the early two thousands and has changed the lives of teenagers around the world. They started off as young teens and early young adults who were full of rebelry and anxst. Their first few albums were very raw and a sort of emo punk pop rock. Their latest album though, 'Infinity on High' which premiered in early two thousand seven, took a total turn and made some fans turn on them and call them 'sellouts'. They are now older and more matured, so their music has taken the toll. It has a broader variety of instrumentation outside of guitar, bass, drums, and vocals. They have definitely progressed; for the better or worse, that is up for you to judge.
My Chemical Romance is a different story. Recently they have exploded in popularity for their strange anthems. They take a sort of emotional goth approach to their music. Their album the 'Black Parade' is full of songs that teens are raving about, but their earlier works are still commonly listened to. Such as 'Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge'. MCR is huge on the music scene.
Marilyn Manson has been around for awhile. Brian Wagner once had a vision to change the world's view on music and art. His band has well succeeded in doing so. They are a sort of death metal; very enticing, very interesting. They have not changed their style, and they have not just recently become really popular; no matter what generation of teenagers it is, they are guarenteed to listen to this group of frightening imagineers.
The members that make up Three Days Grace have a depressing story, but their music is so easy to relate to. You just know every time you hear, 'Animal I Have Become' that Adam Gontier totally understands what you're going through because he has been there. Three Days Grace is in a sense like MCR, people enjoy their new works but are still loving the older pieces as well.
Paramore is one of the few bands that is priviledged to have a lady on the vocals. Hayley Williams has an amazing voice. They only have two albums, "All We Know is Falling" and "Riot", but they became popular quite quickly. The first album made them well known, but when "Riot" was released, the name Paramore was known everywhere as one of the greatest bands of two thousand seven.
As you can see, every generation has its music. This is the music of my generation, and I am proud to be apart of the music scene. These bands have progressed well and changed with time and are still ever so sweet.

I am very much a fan of the 'old school' progressive rock - that is, English prog rock bands from ca. 1968 to the mid-1970s.
