Poetry: Invaders in our homeland

Human Invaders

As the squirrel gathers nuts
He looks up to see
His tree, his home, taking cuts
He blinks and thinks could it be?

An animal on two feet
Chop at his home
The squirrel runs in retreat
At the fall of his home

The woodland creatures meet
To see their neighborhood fall
To know that they've been beat
By they humans that thrall

Day by day, they loose their home, their kin
To the human invaders
Who cut and grin
So they can build their lives

But to destroy others
