Tabbed browsing is pretty much the norm these days in every browser. If your a browser without tabbed browsing you pretty much don't exist. But are all tabbed browsing on all browser equal? Nope, Firefox has an exceptional tabbed browsing experience, but not because of all the hard work Mozilla put into it but because of the add on system Firefox has.
Tabbed browsing allows you to be on multiple website all at once in one browser window and it has been advancing in features thanks to the plug in system in Firefox. If you head over to the plug in section of the Mozilla website (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox) you are bound to find many useful plug ins that enhance the tabs in Firefox.
Over the years as I have gotten used to tabbed browsing I have found myself having lots and lots of tabs open at the same time, the tabbed bar gets very crowded for me. To solve this problem there was an add on for Firefox called, Faviconize tab (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3780 ). This add on allows you to minimize tabs down to a websites favicon, which is th etiny little icon that is in the address bar that represents a websites. This add on makes tabs much smaller just the size of a tiny iocn instead of the big tabs that display the full name. This is convenient for being able to have lots and lots of tabs open and staying a little more organized.
Another add on for Firefox that brings advancement to tabbed browsing is ColurfulTabs (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1368 ). This simple add on makes each tab a different color for easy distinguishing them when you have many tabs open.
There are many more add ons you can find for tabs for doing all sorts of this, but to give credit to Mozilla now they have implemented there own innovations to tabling in Firefox that many users may not know about. For example there are a number of different ways to easily and quickly switch between tabs. The first way is to use the key combination ctr-tab. Each time you click ctr-tab while in Firefox you will cycle through the tabs in order they are in the browser. If you want to quickly switch between tabs but not cycle through in order use the key command alt-1, alt-2, alt-3 etc. The alt key plus a number will automatically send you to that number tab from the left. So alt-1 will bring you to the 1st tab and so on.
Tabbed browsing has and is evolving from just being a way to keep multiple windows into one. Thanks to Firefox and there everyday users creating plug ins for Firefox Tabbed browsing is advancing.
