Reasons to hate the New York Yankees

Hate the Yankees? Who could hate the team that buys their championships, gets the biggest names signed to the biggest contracts, and dominates through the power of the largest market in baseball? Well I could and do so every chance I get.

First off I hate any team who plays in the American league; they use the designated hitter rule and ruin the game. That goes for the team closest to me as well, The Cleveland Indians. The DH rule allows players who are too lazy to stay in shape hang around real athletes and often ruin them as well. "Oh no, my pitcher can't spend time at batting practice he is way too busy with pitching." Yea well they did it before all the modern conveniences of today just fine. Look at Babe Ruth when he was at Boston; he won a Cy Young award and hit more home runs than most teams.

As if the DH rule were not enough, the Yankees think a World Series should be decided by the team who has the most celebrities at the end of the season. They continue to pay out exorbitant salaries to a player, which ups the average salaries other teams must pay. The only chance smaller market area teams have is to get lucky with some younger players or aging veterans. This ruins the game for many fans.

Another reason to hate the Yankees is the stupid pinstripes. Did you know the owner of the Yankees at one time added more pinstripes to the uniforms of the other players so "The Babe" wouldn't look so fat? How's that for a reason to hate them; narcissism. They love the home runs but hate the fat man. Nice Yankees, Nice.

Also, I hate that NY on their hats; it looks like chicken scratches from a distance, or almost like Chinese characters. Hey, China is a communist country, and the hat looks like Chinese lettering, does that mean something? No, no they are definitely not communist; they love money too much for that. But they are more like a product than a baseball team, and China does make a lot of our products. OK, I didn't mean that; the Chinese are way too nice a people to associate with the Yankees.

We also cannot overlook they had Mickey Mantle; one of the greatest talents ever to play. He had the ability to become the greatest player ever, but the Yankees let him waste it with his poor lifestyle. He was an amazing player to be sure, but had he been sober and healthy how good could he have been? They also had Joe DiMaggio, Babe Ruth, and Lou Gehrig. Joe D and the Babe were legendary players, but also two of the most self serving teammates ever. The classiest player
