Intelligence and intuition are indeed two sides of the same coin - the coin of 'universal intelligence'.'Intelligence'pe r se is the conventionally accepted form of conscious, logical thinking that all of us commonly employ in day to day situations. It helps to to make rational decisions that keep us safe and help us achieve our goals. But more importantly, intelligence uses methods that are reproducable and therefore far more accepted than intuition.
Intuition on the other hand, harnesses deeper levels of our consciousness - namely the subconscious mind. Tapping this level is like finding a well spring of intelligence, far superior to logical thinking, which is somewhat limited by our own experiences.
I believe that all human consciousness is linked in ways that are not yet fully understood. It might explain why psychics are able to get images that the average person may not. Such people may be more capable of turning down the 'chatter' of their conscious, logical minds and 'tune in' to the sounds of their subconscious mind - which of course is linked to universal intelligence.
A good way to stop logical thinking from interfering with your creative self or your intuitive self, is to acknowledge to yourself that you are indeed a worthy instrument to receive intuitive signals. Then immerse yourself wholeheartedly into an activity at hand, whatever that may be. It could be as mundane a task as washing the dishes or cleaning the bathtub. Be fully present in the moment, thinking of nothing else besides the task at hand. And quite unbidden, a thought will sudden spring its way into a window of your consciousness. Such thoughts usually respond to the thought "I wonder..." - which really is the question your intuitive mind was seeking to find an answer to.
And because you have been open to the fact of being a worthy receipient of intuitive thoughts, your conscious mind will actually permit that thought in. It almost seems too easy to be true, but it is. Most people would probably be capabe of starting a task sincerely enough, but few would be able to stop themselves from sneaking a peek to see if their subconscious mind has indeed come up with something. Alas, that is the one little thing that can sabotage all your efforts.
Indeed, it is almost as futile as shining a light on 'darkness' to see darkness! In order to be aware of darkness, one must allow the light to fade.
