FALLING FOR A BLIND DATE
Their first date had been much more enjoyable than Pete had imagined it would be. He wasn't at all keen on blind dates, and when his sister had first tried to set him up with her new co-worker, he'd gracefully declined. But Sue had been persistent. The brother and sister were quite close and spoke on the phone several times a week and Pete had dinner with Sue and her husband Frank every couple of weeks. He wasn't much of a cook himself and always looked forward to one of Sue's home cooked dinners, and enjoyed spending time with Sue, Frank and his young niece and nephew.
Sue had included Krista's name in the conversation at every chance she could, and told Pete about her wonderful sense of humour, attractive personality, and on top of this, said she wasn't bad to look at! So after a month or so, more to keep his sister happy than anything else, Pete had agreed on a blind date with Krista. Sue had also been singing Pete's praises to Krista and had already got her permission to pass on her phone number, which she very happily did.
Pete had rung Krista a couple of days later and they'd talked for quite some time, both pleasantly surprised that they seemed to have a lot in common. They'd arranged to have dinner together the following Saturday and see what eventuated from there..
Pete wanted to pick Krista up from home, but even though Sue had told him she'd assured her he was a very decent young man, she seemed hesitant. He kind of understood there are after all a lot of crazy people in the world today so he agreed they would meet at the restaurant.
Pete arrived early and was pleased that Krista arrived just a few minutes later, and still ahead of the time they'd agreed on. They got along as well face to face as they had on the phone, both chose the same wine and food, and neither could resist a rich dessert..
While they drank their tea they both preferred tea to coffee they discussed how the evening should proceed and decided to see a movie. Pete asked Krista if there was anything in particular she'd like to see, thinking she'd most likely choose a typical chick flick', but she surprised him by hesitantly suggesting they see the new sci-fi alien abduction film.. Could Sue have told her sci-fi was his favourite genre? She appeared to be genuinely interested in seeing it though, and once again they were both pleased at how much they had in common.
Pete enjoyed the movie so much that at times he almost forgot Krista was sitting next to him. But
