Why do some of us seek it out while the rest of us run as far from it as possible? When you're young the truth is whatever you're told. As you grow up you discover half of what you were told is someone else's version of the truth... Or a big fat lie. We each have our own truth and that is the problem. We each deal with life in a different way. We either only seek out the truth by questioning everything, or we sort through it and make our own truths. Imagine all the distorted information a child receives.
As we become adults, we have to decide what our truth will be and most times our truth is a lie. But if you're brought up on lies, then how the hell do you learn the truth? Then again many of us know the truth and that is why we lie. And what if the lie feels better than the truth? We're human and sometimes feeling good is worth the lie, now that's the truth.
To find truth is easy. To live truth is hard. I believe it can be done but at what cost? There's a reason why lying is so popular. Not all lies hurt others, most of them only hurt ourselves in the long run. If I lie and it doesn't hurt anyone else, then what's the problem? The problem is, I know it's a lie and I feel guilt afterward. Not to say that I don't get over it. What if I told the truth and it hurt someone else? It would take me longer to get over.
I don't think finding truth is the problem. I believe we all know where the truth is. Living and keeping the truth is where we fail. It may be because we're weak and try to avoid pain and disappointment as much as possible. Or we've been lied to so much that it becomes comfortable. Like I said everyone deals with life in their own way. For some of us maybe our truth is a lie. And maybe for others a culmination of lies are our truths. Either way, who is to say what the real truth is, even if you think you lost it and now have found it? Who told you this truth? Who told them their truth?
Running from the truth is never good, or is it? Maybe your truth is not my truth. I don't believe there is some big giant ball of truth that we must all seek. The truest truth is in us, and when we lie or run from it we lie and run from ourselves. The most important thing is to feel good about yourself. The better you feel about you, the less you will lie because you won't feel the need to. Lying keeps the pain locked inside and the truth will set you free. Okay, I'm not sure I believe that bull* but it will make you feel better than lying does. So if you're seeking the truth and don't know where to find it... Don't ask me, I'll probably just lie to you!
