One of my slaves (the one who thinks she's my "owner" - ha!) tends to buy more Friskies canned food than any other brand. I must say it took me long enough to get it into her thick human skull that cats consider food with no TEXTURE to it about as appetizing as humans would consider food with no salt in it. I mean, if we were hunting down and killing our own food the way our ancestors supposedly did, we would not be eating pureed pate, now, would we? We'd be chewing on real meat and crunching on real bones.
Anyway, the smart people at Friskies are obviously more in tune with cats' likes and dislikes than many other menufacturers, because when my dinner comes out of a Friskies can, it usually holds my interest long enough for me to eat at least half of it. (Of course, at that point I have to walk away and look disdainful, and wait to see if she will offer me something else. It's right there in my contract.)
Friskies makes Prime Filets that are delectable little stringy pieces of whitefish, chicken, beef, and turkey. They also have some newer flavors that mix chicken and tuna, or salmon and beef. Furrthermore, they have cans of sliced meat (chicken, beef, and "gourmet grill" which seems as though it may have liver in it) and shredded meat (single flavors like salmon, chicken, and beef, or combinations like salmon and chicken shreds in the same can). There is also a shredded variety that combines turkey with cheese. . . that's sometimes worth investigating if there's nothing else of interest on the menu.
They have also just come out with a new line of food called Selects that has garden greens and grains in it. Tonight the food-giver slave enticed me over to try one; I think it was Herbed Salmon with rice and garden greens. I ate some of it, in part because I was curious and in part because one of the other cats wanted it. We can't have that, now, can we?
Another reason why I like the Friskies food is because there is so much variety. Even if the food-giver slave bought no other brand, I probably wouldn't get too bored with having Friskies for dinner every day. There are enough different types that I could probably go for a month without eating the same thing.
So, if you've recently been acquired by a cat and are wondering what it wants for dinner, take it from me. . . the Friskies stuff is worth a try. (Other cats in this house may have different opinions, but right now I'm the one who's got the keyboard.)
Yours truly,
GP (Grand Premier) Simbakui Denali of Silverlock
