Scandal? What scandal? I seriously had to google the scandal to find out what it was. Considering how often I watch shows like Entertainment Now, I can't imagine how I missed it! If I never even heard about the scandal, I can hardly imagine it had an impact on her elimination from American Idol.
Everyone knows the show is rigged to begin with. Think Kristy Lee was straight off the farm? Think again! The singer already reportedly had record deals in the works as early as 2001. Rumours flying around say many of the singers were farmed for auditions because of their upcoming stardome to give the show a much needed boost in popularity after failing ratings in the previous season.
As for the scandal, apparantly an internet sex sight cooked up a tape of Kristy Lee performing a strip-tease for camera's. First of all, big deal. Second of all, the tape turned out to be hoax. Oh wait, another internet magazine says the web-cam footage caught Kristy Lee doing a strip tease for money. Get your stories straight people!
I think the first hint a scandal is a hoax is when the stories circulating about the scandal can't agree on facts. Truth will out. Fortunately for Kristy Lee it apparantly did. All much to my surprise several months later. The so-called scandal happened in 2008 this year. More probable a reason for Kristy's elimination from idol was Simon's constant Kristy bashing. The poor girl couldn't do anything right. If she picked an easy song, she was criticised for taking the easy way out. If she picked a harder song, she was criticised for biting off more than she could chew. That being said, with her all-out pandering for votes with her southern country girl this and her songs of patriotism that, I was happy to see her gone. Stripping for votes, no. Suck-holing for votes, yessiree bob.
This leads me to my next question. Why is Helium bothering to re-hash this whole topic now? As a debate topic no less! Seems a little lame to me, no offense to the folks at Helium! I would point to the lack of interest in this subject title as a more viable reason Kristy Lee was eliminated from American Idol. The only reason I wrote about it was I was internet surfing anyway to find out what the scandal was after reading the subject title. I was hoping it might be something interesting, but alas it was not.
I digress. Let's get back to the co-relation between this unloved story topic and Kristy's elimination from American Idol. If people were interested in Kristy, they'd write about her. If people were interested in Kristy, the topic would be a hot debate! If people were interested in Kristy, she would have won the show.
