Heartburn is a painful burning sensation in the esophagus that is located just below the breastbone which is caused by regurgitation of gastric acid. The pain of heartburn often rises into the chest, neck, and throat and back of the mouth. Heartburn has been identified as one of the causes of chronic cough and has been known to mimic asthma.
Even though it is called heartburn it actually has nothing to do with the heart. It is called heartburn because of the burning sensation that is located behind the breastbone where the heart is located although some heart problems do have similar sensations as heartburn. If you experience heartburn regularly you should avoid eating foods that cause it, lying down after eating and wearing tight clothing around the abdomen area to help prevent heartburn.
If you are experiencing heartburn weekly or daily you should visit a doctor to be properly diagnosed because it could be an indication that you have a more serious problem. The following information is on how to mix and use essential oils to treat heartburn.
