I prayed to God one morning
All I asked was happiness
He didn't have an answer yet
But promised I'd be blessed
I waited and I wondered
So very patiently
And God told me a secret
When he finally answered me
He told me that I should watch for
Pools as blue as the sea
My beauty would be reflected
As the sea gazed back at me
He said to watch for strength
In strong hard working arms
Because in those I'd find
Shelter from all harm
He said I'd hear a sweet song
That I would not recognize
He said to listen closely
Cuz I may not realize
He said he would be singing
To me through your sweet words
He said again to listen closely
Because it's nothing that I've heard
I didn't understand
He said I may put up defense
But promised me that words of love
Would finally start making sense
He told me anything worth having

He told me it wouldn't be easy
That we would have mountains to climb

To climb up to the top
Cuz it's only the beginning
And too worthwhile to stop
He said we'd pass the mountains
And soar up through the clouds
On through the vastness of forever
Without ever looking down
He said I would look up
And one day I would see
All my prayers were answered
Standing there looking down at me
I can still hear Him whispering
Softly through the trees
If you listen closely He's saying
We were meant to be

He closed his eyes and listened still

A flash of love

A lonely heart
Sitting idly
Waiting to skip a beat
Searching for a match
So much to give
Asking not much in return
Trust, loyalty,

How blessed am I to hold you close, to feel your heart beat in time to mine;
How blessed am I to feel the fire run through
Most afternoons I get excited to hear
the metal of the key in the door.
I feel relief and happiness at
even the first deep
I saw an old man,
Fall today.
When he did,
I stopped and prayed.
Several people,
Ran and helped.
I was so happy,
