Here is your first look at what the runway trend for Fall 2008 is. Now, I know that you are asking yourself, " self, how do I take the runway and make it work for the hallway?"

Let's take the look apart and see what would work great for you, whether it's the hallway at work or at school. The most imporant thing to remember is to use a piece of two of the current trend and work it into your lifestyle.

The goal being how to improve and freshen your current style without looking like a copy cat of what you see in magazines, tv or friends.

1. The hair. Can't miss it. It's a return to the Baby Jane of the 1960's. A big teased up, tousled bubble of hair. Do half the teasing and half the hairspray. Make a small bump of teased hair and use a product like Finissage to give some piecy texture and softness. For evening consider adding small hair pins or clips at the temple on either or both sides of the temples.

2. The makeup: extreme 1960's mod eyeliner and big false eyelashes with heave pancake makeup to pale and mattify the skin, finished with no blush and a white/peach/nude toned lipstick on the mouth.

How to make this work for you: keep the eyeliner in a dark color, close to the lash and a bit of wing tip, two coats of mascara, a bit of brow groomer over your shadow drawn on brows to pull the hairs up and into place then sealed. A clear brow groomer such as the one made by Maybelline can work and respect the budget.

My favorite and best recommendation for the lipstick look in the Fall 2008 trend is to get Lorac's color made for Geena Davis in the Long Kiss Goodnight movie. It's a perfect pale!

3. The "Monochromatic" look seen on the Runway in Chanel and Dior, is achieved by using a family of colors for eyes, cheeks and lips that are within a shade or two of themselves. Take a peek at the collections, jot down the names and then visit your beauty store, either a Sephora, Ulta or department to try on the colors and get a sense of the texture and feel.

To achieve a great monochromatic look start with a great complexion, use a semi-matte foundation finish ( it's true, you really do need more than one bottle of foundation in your makeup regime).

Use a tone of shadow and blush and lips that are close. It can be bronzes, golds, silvers, blues, pinks, tans or whatever you pick! The point is that the eyes, lips and cheeks are in the same shade range.

Apply to the lid, and lightly highlight the brow bone. Put the monochromatic cheek color lightly on the cheek bone, not on the apple like when you are doing a fresh and youthful look. Follow the bone structure.

Finish the mouth with a nude liner, lipstick and lipgloss that matches the same color as the eyes and cheeks.

This look can be worn in an intense depth of product so it is very bold. Or, in a light sheer application that is very subtle.

Once you know your basic application you can wear any color or product to get the 1960's Mod/Baby Jane, or a monochromatic.

You may also see very bold lips in deep browns, dark purples and very blood red lips with barely there eyes and strong brows. This too is a FALL 2008 beauty trend for makeup. Wear it! I like it! Remember to use a reversible liner if you have a challenge with your lipstick moving around.

A gentle exfoliation of the lip area will help keep the skin soft and less likely to let the lipstick move. Use your toothbrush on your lips while brushing if you don't have a fine grain exfoliator at home
