Poetry: Nature

by Charles Klein

Created on: July 17, 2008

Carefree and wandering through the quiet Maine woods
watching the leafs dance in the tree tops like birds wings in the wonder of flight
I stand alone in the deep and desolate forest not a word to sour the feel
only my breathing and the slight winds make a sound

staring up at the ocean blue sky and wondering how this is still here
the rural and thick north woods, If the masses knew this would be a metropolis
Leaning on a white birch and staring at the green pines, this moment is mine
alone in the world is the notion I toy with

Non frightening only amazement at the world of old, summer is warm ,
Winter is cold
The tourist come by boat and cars and plane but only in the summer
Winter belongs to us in this great state, To hear the sleds roar and to watch the moose and bobcats play this is the reason us Mainers stay
