Pitter patter on the roof
So cold, so distant, so aloof
Cleansing comes in brutal forms
In winter snow, in summer storms
Sheets of water hit the ground
Soaking everything around
Grass is damp and soil clean
The leaves of flowers turn to green
An array of colors on umbrellas
Raindrops singing a capella
Streets covered in a light despair
As drops of water soar through the air
Being home feels safe and cozy
As the sky grows dark and gloomy
The fireplace feels so warm
When outside there's a brewing storm
Books lie on a nearby table
Only read when we are able
To relax and rest in peace
But then the rain begins to cease
The sun is out and starts to shine
The laughter of children not far behind
The puddles dry, the flowers bloom
The rain is gone and tender warmth looms
We put away our boots and coats
The piano plays its tunes and notes
As the people celebrate the joy of the sun
The rain is gone and here is fun
Down comes the rain no more
Down comes the rain no more
The sun will shine evermore
The sun will shine evermore

When it rains
I feel closer to you
because the color gray
surrounding me, forms small droplets
by the millions, colors my emotion

Puddles
When rain falls in heavy torrents
Puddles form along the street.
They come in many shapes and sizes
For so many
When it rains in the spring I close my eyes
a symphony as it plays upon my roof
Waves of showers against the window pane
torrential
Showers in Mexico
Cars on the cobblestone streets
emit gas into the humid air,
as the smell of salt lingers
from the nearby
When it rains the old man thinks
He see's slithers of silver,
Littering his garden path.
His elderly brain turns lightening
