Writing can be a very cathartic exercise. It can be an exciting personal journey if you can be totally honest with yourself and are willing to let your pen be the master. To capture your sometimes hidden, pure thoughts and emotions on paper can even surprise you! Many times, you may not even know those feelings are there.
If you allow your thoughts to flow, unencumbered, through your head and onto the page, you may have one of those "aha" moments, as I have on many occasions. It's almost like going on an archaeological expedition. I can always learn something new about myself, if I'm willing to unearth those troublesome buried psychic relics through this process.
When trying to sort through a complicated issue or to make a decision, list the the pros in one column and the cons in the opposite column. Sometimes this makes everything crystal clear. I have to laugh, because sometimes when it comes to affairs of the heart, it isn't quite that simple. If the heart is involved, somehow it doesn't really matter, the heart usually wins and it well should! The heart can be very intuitive.
For anyone interested in becoming a better writer, journaling can get you through a writer's block or even just a plain personal slump. If you get accustomed to writing every day, you become less inhibited and more willing to just get it out there. Some great things can come from this process and sometimes when you least expect it.
Journaling can help you get rid of all that "chitty britty" or thought garbage that somehow gets trapped in our brains and hearts. It can help clear out all of those negative thoughts and feelings that we internalize through everyday living. All of those hurts, insecurities, the negative self-talk or anger can quite literally, strangle us. Those petty grievances that we store in our hearts and souls can be toxic and detrimental to our health!
Believe me, that junk needs to be dumped and where better than on a nice clean, piece of paper, which can be easily destroyed or on your computer, where you can simply hit the delete button and never see it again! Just get it out there and move on toward a happier, more peaceful and productive existence. Your creativity will flourish.
