Watching Football verses the Sophistication of Cafe Life? 07.16.08
This is not a story about how much I like watching football but only some little revelation about myself and my friends in the SF Bay Area and the rich and friendly cafe life there. I saw that McDonalds' commercial about the two hip guys, and one tells the other that McDonalds has Cappuccino now. And the other guy puts down his book and says that's great because he can shave his soul patch off his face and they could even watch football, and the other guy pulls off his sweater and says that he likes to sit and watch football!
In SF and the Castro area so many people I knew use to hang out just like that at Cafe Flore; and there are so many other cafes like that one all over the Bay Area; but if you like being a little less sophisticated you can hang out at the many Gay Bars that double as Gay Sport's Bars, or even at any of many Sport's Bars all around the Bay Area if you are into sports? In the Bay Area Gay Bars and Sports Bars are where the TV Sports are!
I grew up with Soccer as my own "Football" as in Europe, the "Football" there is what is known as Soccer here! Did you know that? So the only sport that I like is Soccer, and the other kinds of sports just never did really grab me at all. But I guess that that is another reason for a fellow blogger to call me awful names like "Father Nutjob"? And then block me so I cannot respond or defend myself in anyway to their off opinions about me aye?
My thinking and my social skills and my perceptions and politics, along with my spirituality and learning, are mostly all formed by being a San Francisco Bay Area person... while reading lots of books and going to college. I do love Jesus and I am a clergyperson as well, which, according to some of my fellow bloggers, makes me a "blithering idiot" with nothing worth blogging about, and their ridicule and rudeness arrives in my inbox telling me off often and quite severely, and I think that is wrong?
But regarding cafe life and he kind of friends I had in the SF Bay Area, they are so much like those two guys in the McDonald's commercial, but as the sophisticated cafe patrons, and not as the kind who would toss all that away and change into just some normal' and regular,' and every day' kind of dudes' and American sports fans! Just not for me!
Nothing is wrong with liking sports though! Remember Greek culture? They enjoyed sports in the Greek states of ancient times, and they developed learning, Democracy and
