COBBLY O'NOBBIN
Cobbly O'Nobbin sat on his toadstool
Sweeping up dew drops for his swimming pool
The boonwhattle blossoms near him smelled nice
They waved in the breeze at the passing field mice
He sat in his yard with his counting stick
Counting the number of bells he could pick
From the leafy bell plant growing on his front lawn
Its bells ringing out from dusk until dawn
Once he had finished with things that were fun
He studied and figured the work to be done
The lady bug spots were fading away
He'd have to paint them before he could play
A bibajoo tree just begged for some leaves
And the toad's bungalow needed new eaves
Crooked ant trails were in need of repair
He smoothed them all out, taking great care
He doodled and dabbled all the day long
And when he had finished, he sang this song:
"Oh, I'm a bumpy little man
With shoes that don't quite fit
But when I've got a job to do
I never, never quit.
I build and fix and sing all day
I love to be of service
When they see me coming
They are never, never nervous
They know I want to help them and
It gives me such a thrill
They stand up and they clap
Because I'm better than a pill
"Oh, I'm a bumpy little man
In a funny tinker's hat
But I love helping others
Now what do you think of that?"
Cobbly O'Nobbin is a servant of sorts
He's even been known to bake frazzberry torts
Fixing and mixing is what he does best
It makes him happy and he knows he's blessed.
