Transfers, it is cheaper to pay for transfers when you arrive.
Accommodation, book where breakfast is included in the price.
Do not eat at the hotel, unless discounts are given. You can find much cheaper food outlets outside the hotel, with more variety.
Pack your clothes, with mix and max outfits, reducing excess baggage costs.
Do your own laundry
Buy your alcohol at supermarkets and put in your fridge. Make sandwiches for lunch.
Drive yourself and stay in Motels
Shop around on the internet, check prices at local tourist bureaus
Settle for accommodation, which include breakfast or continental breakfasts in the price.
It is often cheaper to rent a fully serviced unit or flat. Cheaper if you stay longer.
Spend the odd night in an onsite van, or cabin in a caravan park.
Eat snacks for lunches. Buy the bread at a supermarket and make your own. Buy coffee and make you own. Buy your alcohol, you will save heaps and keep in motel fridge. Enquire before you book.
Tips for saving money when traveling with a Caravan
It still costs you to stay in a caravan park. Powered sites will vary from $20- $35 a night, unpowered sites are cheaper. Stay in caravan parks and use their power and gas, use their barbecues, or camp kitchens. Use their ablution block for your showers. This will save your gas, for when you need it most. If you have your own hoses, then hook up to their water supply (if it is drinkable). Towing with less weight means you save more on fuel consumption.
Stay in caravan park, and take day trips. This will allow you to cover more territory without dragging the van, saving your fuel. You can visit scenic drives not accessible with a caravan.
Free Parks
Use free parks when you can, it will save you money. Some have barbecues, toilets, and showers. Never park on your own in the bush, it is safer with others. Be considerate to other campers, if you have a generator park further away from the main campers, as a noisy generator can upset a light sleeper. Free campsites are available in most areas, although some states and councils provide different facilities. Never park off road if it looks like rain, as you may become bogged.
Buy Food from Supermarkets
Buy your fresh fruit, vegetables, and groceries at supermarkets or discount shopping centers; it ischeaper than small corner stores or roadhouses. Pack your thermos, and prepare sandwiches for the day in the morning. Then stop and have a picnic lunch. This will be cheaper than a pie and sauce from the roadhouse. Fresh food is better than pastry and less fattening. Although their toilet facilities may come in handy, if you forgot to pack the shovel.
Outdoor camp or tent Holiday
Be prepared for all kinds of weather. Make sure your tent is waterproof. If it should rain have a backup plan, apart from that, camping holidays are similar to those with a caravan. Apply the basics to all the above caravan savings.
Whatever way you travel, you can find little ways to save on accommodation, food, and essentials. Reducing these costs, will not stop you from having a terrific holiday, use the extra dollars saved where you really want to spend them. Then you will enjoy those added benefits and save money on travel.
Free Entertainment
Visit the local museums, parks, and gardens, to save you money. Spend time at the beach. Some motels have free entertainment, like water aerobics, make use of them especially when the children can join in. Barter for a cheaper price, Bali is not the only place to barter.
