Mobile phones are useful electronic devices that play an extremely important role in our life. Humans have invented and discovered many great and very useful things to make life easier, but one of our best inventions was the mobile phone. Still, phones aren't always an advantage, and sometimes they are just a pain in the neck! However useful they may be, their disadvantages are too severe to ignore.
One of the most annoying things are when you are sitting in a silent library, where all is calm, peaceful and serene when someone sits next to you and starts using a phone to text message. The constant 'click click click' is enough to drive people up the wall. And if that's not enough, they even start speaking over the phone or their phone start to ring loudly. Way to kill the mood!
Another annoying circumstance is when people are speaking really loud over their phone and everybody can hear them. I mean, come on! Are we really interested in hearing other people's conversation? Whereever we go - in the office, in the library, on the bus, on the train - what is up with these people? Everybody else is disturbed because of this, and though we feel like throwing something at the person, we have to just keep quiet either because the peson is your boss, your too polite, or the peson is bigger than you and can make mince out of your head.
Next comes my personal favorite - people texting while they are talking to you. Ever feel irritated when you are telling someone something important and they aren't giving you any eye contact and all they give you in reply is a "huh?" or a "yeah, yeah" or even a "yup"? Well annoying is as annoying does! It's hard to converse in a polite conversation these days!
Another painful experience you could have is when a person is playing music loudly over the phone. How crazy is that! Not everyone enjoys listening to mad guitarists screaming into the mike, a thousand times over. Even once is enough to kill you!
Imagine going to a restauraunt with your date for a nice romantic evening when someone's phone rings and he starts speaking over it loudly and everybody has to listen. Please people, restauraunts are not a place to speak over the phone! Everyone can hear you becuse of the silence. Dosen't anyone realize that?
Swearing is annoying. When people get angry while speaking over their phone, they swear really badly. Two years ago, aged 11 and a half, when I first arrived in australia, I had to go with my mum to the city by train. Everyday, I heard people swear over the phone and my mum used to get angry because I was being exposed to ' extreme cases of explicit language '. Now where I come from, you never ever hear people swear, and being as innocent as I was (yeah, right,) I had hardly ever came across these colourful words before. But once the meaning came to be known I used to wonder why they used these words and also if they knew the meaning of them. Well, my mum used to get really annoyed about it and she got me an iPod on the condition that I had to listen to music everytime we went on the train. I didn't mind, as listening to 'Lips Of An Angel' was better than the captivating but annoying show of ' *#@# *&^%$!@ ' Still, I thank those people for helping me to get what I had wanted for a long time - the iPod!
