The best chicken wing recipe comes from the original source for chicken wings-Buffalo New York. Without a doubt, the original maestro of chicken wings extraordinaire, is the Anchor Bar on Main Street in the heart of Buffalo. Anyone who has ever lived in Buffalo goes to the creator of the original chicken wing at least once in their lifetime to have the Anchor Bar's famous chicken wings. They are so delicious, that you have to eat at least ten medium wings and then ten hot wings, in one sitting.
Buffalo chicken wings are the best chicken wings in the world. Any other chicken wing made somewhere else other than Buffalo, is I'm sad to say, not an authentic chicken wing. Buffalo chicken wings are the original chicken wings and they are the best in the world. Even people who have visited Buffalo New York have to go to the Anchor Bar to eat these appetizers and sometimes they make them the main meal. The best way to eat them is to have a great Buffalo pizza, and a bucket of the best chicken wings anywhere in the world. They are awesome.
And sad to say I miss Buffalo and Buffalo chicken wings. I am originally from Buffalo, and whenever we are in Buffalo friends and relatives order them and eat this tantalizing treat. I can't eat them anymore, because I have a stomach that won't allow them to stay in without a night of horror (burning, cruel heartburn).
People from around the world know Buffalo not only as the city for her bitter lake effect blizzards, but also for her beloved chicken wings. By the way, I know about the blizzards, because I lived through The Blizzard of 1977. This blizzard put Buffalo on the map for the city in America with the worst weather. Talk show host Johnny Carson made jokes about us people that lived in Buffalo. In fact Buffalo has one of the worst weather reputations in the world. Thanks a lot Johnny!
Now that we live somewhere else, in the Northeast, we have tried the chicken wings here also. They tasted like someone had bread the wings and that's not how you create a real chicken wing. Buffalo chicken wings come in three distinct flavors. I can hear all those Buffalonians sighing at this very moment and they all are reciting the flavors, or the temperatures-mild, medium and hot. By the way real chicken wings don't come slathered in any other sauce except a great red-hot sauce like Frank's.
Those are true Buffalo chicken wings. Mild sauce is a milder chicken wing that won't burn off your tongue. Medium is a little hotter and tastes awesome. Hot is a very hot sauce and you will need to drink an entire beer after eating just one. The sauce used is Frank's red- hot sauce.
Here's how you make them:
Buy some of the biggest chicken wings you can
Wash them off.
Get the fryer very hot for those extra plump, juicy tasting wings.
Throw those babies in and cook for about 5 to 8 minutes depending on how many are in the fryer at one time.
Take them out.
Slather some butter sauce on them.
Then, what truly makes for a chicken wing great is Frank's red- hot sauce.
Dip the wings in the sauce to taste. For mild, use less sauce and so on.
The absolute best way to eat Buffalo chicken wings is to go to Buffalo and order them at the Anchor Bar. You can still get great wings just about anywhere in Buffalo. Many restaurant/ bars are great places to get great wings. And there are tons of pizzerias in Buffalo that have chicken wings to order.
Maybe I'll go for a really long drive tomorrow, and get some Buffalo chicken wings. It's worth the heartburn!
