Knowing your computer gives you more control on how to maximize its running potential or how you could change its different settings to suit the way that you use it.
The one thing that we often come eye to eye with our computer is the monitor so it is important that we know how to play around with its different settings to adjust to what our eyes are comfortable in looking for hours and hours.
Basically, there are two ways to access the Display Properties window:
THE QUICK WAY
1. Clear your desktop of any open windows. You don't necessarily have to close them, just minimize the windows.
2. Right click on your mouse. A pop-up menu will then appear. Move your mouse over the pop up menu such that you would highlight the menu items.
3. Right down at the bottom of the menu is Properties. Click on that and a window with a caption "Display Properties" will appear.
THE TRADITIONAL WAY
1. Click on the Start Menu.
2. Look for "Control Panel" and click on that.
3. The Control Panel usually displays in two modes: the Classic View and the Category View.
When in Classic View simply look for the "Display". Double click on that and the Display Properties window will open up.
When in Category View, click on Appearance and Themes. This will then display a new set of options. Click on either one of the links under Pick a Task (this will lead you to the same Display Properties window, anyway) or click "Display" under "Pick a Control Panel icon" and the same window will open up.
Now you're ready to adjust your display settings to the one that suits your eyes best.
THE FIVE TABS
There are 5 aspects of your display that you can tweak as to your taste: Theme, Desktop, Screen Saver, Appearance, and Settings.
~ THEMES TAB ~
This tab allows you to change the theme of your desktop, which consists of your background, icons, cursors and sounds. There are pre-set themes that you can select using a dropdown list, you can also use themes form the internet or you can setup your own themes and save it for future use. You can also delete any themes that you created while you are in this tab. A preview of your currently selected theme is also available on this tab.
~ DESKTOP TAB ~
In this tab you can:
SET YOUR DESKTOP BACKGROUND. There is an available list of pictures and images that you can select from and use as your desktop background. You can also use your own saved photos as your background, simply click on the "Browse" button and open the location of the photo that you are after. This photo will now be added
