There are various ways that you can impress an interviewer. The followings are some ways that can help in impressing an interviewer.

1. Be Prepared
This is the most important for any interviews. Being prepared help you to stay calm and confident on the actual day. Make sure you know where the interview is being held, the time of interview, name of the interviewer and how to pronounce it properly. Call the organisation to find out the name of interviewer. Also ask whether the interview will be a one-on-one, panal interview with other people or a group assessment activity. That extra effort in asking for information will help you prepare better for the interview.

2. Do your Research
Search details of the organisation on the Internet, newspapers, magazines, copy of annual reports or ask others what they know of the organisation. This will help you ask intelligent questions regarding the business.

3. Dress Appropriately
Practise a conservative approach. Choose formal colours such as white, grey or black. Use simple jewellery and don't wear too much. Apply make-up that are not too elaborative. Look fresh.

4. Allow for Delays
Allow extra time for delays if you are taking public transport. You would never know if the public transport would arrive on time or would there be any unforseen road congestions. This apply too for those who are driving. Doing so would not make you feel rushed and stressed before the interview.

5. Arrive 10 to 15 Minutes Early
Being late is never acceptable. There are many benefits of arriving early. It helps your mind and body to relax before the interview. You can check out the office and get a feel of its image, atmosphere and how people are dressed.

6. Shake Hands with the Interviewer
Have a firm handshake and maintain eye contact at the same time. A handshake tells much about a person. If you do not know how to do a proper handshake, learn.

7. Smile
Smiling is a gesture indicating friendliness, likeability, warmness etc.
So keep smiling throughout the interview.

8. Body Language
This is the non-verbal communication that interviewers would look out for.
Do not fidget; keep your hands on your lap if you are not using them and do not shake your legs. Maintain a good body posture by not slouching.

9. Bring a Nice Pen
If you are going to take notes during the interview, do not use a cheap pen. Small details can help you create a good impression.

10. Know Your Resume Well
Be confident of your resume especially when talking about the content.

11. Keep a Spare
Carry a copy of your resume with you in case the interviewer should require it.

12. Avoid Folders
Resumes should be written or printed on white plain paper and should be stapled. Interviewer may find plastic folders annoying.

13. Send a Thank-You Note
After you leave the office, write your interviewer a note to thank him for his time and post it the same day. This will leave a good impression and make an impact on your interviewer.

14. Make an impression
Be cool, calm and collected. You can count on a successful interview when you are well prepared, confident and act appropriately.

All the best!
