The benefits of journaling. I believe the first place to start journaling is to decide to do it faithfully everyday, then the next step is to go out and buy a journal that is appealing to you and when you get home you can just sit down and start writing. The thing is not only does writing help to keep your thoughts together, but it also helps to relieve stress and cleanse your soul. It can also help you to keep you focused on your hopes and dreams and goals in life.
You will also be writing for future generations to help them understand what your life was like, your thoughts and feelings can give history a more personal picture than say a history book. Let's say you started to keep a journal before 9/11 and then when 9/11 happened your wrote about it in your journal. In your journal you put your thoughts and fears and feelings down on paper and you write about the things that are said in the news reports and then say 50 years from now the kids are reading about it in their history books and one of those kids happen to be one of your descendants and they read what you wrote in your journal. They can take your journal to school and say to their teacher I had a great-grandparent who lived through 9/11 and I have their journal. The teacher may then say could you bring it in so we can get a personal account of the events of that day or that week.
There are just so many benefits to journal writing. Just the fact that it can help you heal your soul makes it worth taking the time and effort to write in a journal. You don't have to write about politics or celeberties, you can just write what you are feeling for that day or that week. You can use a journal to write notes to yourself about your relationships. You can use a journal to write about the exciting and happy things that have happened to you or that you made happen for someone else. Journal writing can be used to help you make important decisions in your life. It can help you map out your future and stay on the right path.
So just decide to do it and start your own journal.
