I think it should be readily apparent to anyone who has ever watched QVC and HSN that QVC is by far the better of the two when it comes to at home shopping choices. QVC has better quality products both name brand and their own brand. Their hosts are more personable and they have great customer service. HSN lacks the same quality products that QVC has and their hosts aren't as personable as those on QVC. While HSN does pass on savings to the customer in the same way that QVC does, I feel you get alot more for your money with QVC than with HSN.

I was first introduced to at home shopping by my grandmother, who was a shut in and while she loved to shop she could no longer get out to do so. At first I was skeptical; the only shop at home shows I had been exposed to where the ones that come on after midnight that you only watch because there is nothing else on. You know the ones I'm talking about, they have the gaudiest jewelry for sale and they always start out with one price and then throughout the show they keep slashing the price. All the while you sit there and wonder, are people really ordering this junk? Then I received my first of many gifts from my grandmother all purchased from QVC. The first to arrive was a Kitchen Aid mixer, then a Cuisinart ice cream maker and a few pieces of jewelry. I had to admit I was impressed. All my gifts were just as good if not better than the items I would have been able to purchase just going to a Macy's or Kohl's. They were name brand items. I never thought that you could shop at home for name brand merchandise and I would later find out that sometimes QVC gets exclusive rights to certain types of merchandise that you can't find in retail stores. The jewelry, I was most impressed with, for simulated diamonds they weren't gaudy but were actually believable and the metal didn't tarnish over time like most fake jewelry does. When I received compliments and I told people it was from QVC, they didn't believe me and started watching themseleves.

Finally, I gave in and watched QVC for myself. I was surprised by the variety of items that they had and still continue to get. Especially most recently with the addition of Clinique, Philosophy and Origins products I have no need to really go anyplace else for my holiday shopping. QVC also makes their more expensive items more affordable by allowing their customers to do Easy pay, splitting up the price in 3, 4 or 5 equal payments. On occasion I have watched HSN and I have bought a few items from them but I always come back to QVC because they just have more of a selection at a better price.
