For many people, photography is more than a hobby it is a way of life! People who live and breathe only to take photos love things that are related to their passion. There are many gifts that you can consider getting for that picture-taking junkie in your life!
First, you need to know what they have and what they might need. Drop hints to see if you can get any information. If this isn't possible then just go with your gut. Be sure to include or offer the receipt in case you do get them a duplicate item.
A very important part of photography is the camera. Focus on this aspect. What type of camera do they have? If the camera is in bad shape or isn't a very good one then, you may want to consider getting them a new one. This can often be an expensive gift so you might want to consider asking other people who will be purchasing a gift for this person to chip in.
A common problem with camera often is being able to keep batteries. Solve this problem by giving the photography lover some rechargeable batteries and a charger. These are excellent to have and come in very handy, especially when the photographer is planning on taking a lot of pictures.
There are lots of accessories that can also be bought for cameras. You might want to consider buying interchangeable lenses, tripods, memory cards, cleaning and maintenance tools, or even carrying cases. If you do not understand these products, take someone with you who will, or ask a store employee for help.
You may also want to consider giving the photographer a way to increase their interest and share photos with others. Give them a printer, picture paper, a scanner or photo shop discs. Some pieces of equipment are not always compatible so, make sure that you know what you are buying.
Try to help the photographer in your life organize their photos by giving them gifts that will do so. Give them photo albums or frames so that they can treasure their precious memories also. You may also include scrap-booking materials so that they can design their own way to keep their pictures in tact.
If none of these gifts are up your alley, then take a different approach. Think about giving them a hat or a t-shirt that proudly displays their love for pictures. Better still, have those items made especially for them by including a photo they took on the front of it! Another fun idea is to have a calendar specially made using a different photo that they took for each month.
If all else fails, don't give up. Just give them a gift-card to their favorite photography store or online site. Let the gift come from the heart and put some thought into what you get. Chances are your present will make them smile, without even having to say "cheese" first!
