Appreciating the little things

More often than not, I look at the glowing red numbers of my alarm clock when I wake up in the morning, and I realize I have waken up too early.

I attempt to shield my eyes from the bright morning sun coming through the blinds, and curse myself for not shutting them the night before. I clamp the pillow over my ears, willing the birds to suddenly develop a severe case of bronchitis, robbing them of their ability to sing.

As one may see, I'm no nature person in the mornings. However, this morning I had what one might call an epiphamy. Granted, this might have been partially contributed to by my getting 10 hours of sleep, but nevertheless, it was an epiphamy.

The things that we most often find to be mildly irrating in our surroundings are really the silver linings of God's world, which have been tarnished by today's society and what has become the accepted outlook on life.

Anything that hasn't been refined, shined, or glamourized is effectively shunned by the mindset of today's New-York-Minute world. So here's some advice. Next time, before you curse that bird that wakes you up too early, listen, instead. When the sunlight shines through, appreciate it, and be grateful there is a sun out. When cursing the traffic on the bridge, look out your window at the open sea. When you curse the rain, dance in it.

They say life is God's greatest gift. But it seems people ignore this gift as if it was another bad necktie. Appreciate life. Live life. Feel life.
