Surely any of us can do better than Sports Illustrated, who picked a Miami-Carolina Super Bowl back when the season began. Here's my try.
In the AFC, we have the following:
KC vs. Colts-I believe that the Chiefs are going to upset the Colts. Larry Johnson is going to run all over the weak Indy run defense. Plus the Chiefs owe the Colts payback for two playoff upsets at Arrowhead.
Jets vs. Patriots-This one could go either way, but I'll go with New England.
Then . . .
KC vs Chargers-The Chiefs beat the Chargers at Arrowhead. The Chargers won in San Diego. I'm going to call an upset here with Marty S. performing another of his annual choke jobs.
Patriots vs Ravens-This one is also tough to call. The Ravens defense gives them an edge. The Patriot's experience is theirs. In the end, go with the home team.
And then
KC vs Ravens-A good KC offense plays a great Ravens defense. An okay Baltimore offense plays a hit-and-miss KC defense. In the end, I see the Ravens flying off to the big game.
Over in the NFC, we have . . .
Dallas at Seattle-Dallas is headed downward and Seattle seems to be cresting. Seattle wins.
Giants vs. Eagles-Not exactly a clash of titans here, but what is an 8-8 team even doing in the post-season. Only in the NFC, I guess. Eagles win unless Tiki does some incredible heroics.
Then we get
Seattle at the Bears. The Bears haven't completely gone into hibernation, but they'll fall to the Seahawks.
Eagles at New Orleans-New Orleans is hosting a playoff game? This is just too weird. The Eagles won't have the answer for that NO Mojo.
Leading us to . . .
Seahawks vs. Saints-Because I'm sick to death of hearing about how the Seahawks were supposedly robbed last year and because I find Mike Holmgren mildly annoying to look at, I'm going with the Saints.
And this culminates in the . . .
Saints vs. Ravens-The AFC has dominated this year. The Ravens have won a Super Bowl before. Ray Lewis will be yakking up a storm. Reggie Bush has done virtually nothing this season to account for all his hype. Steve McNair is looking bionic. These are all great reasons why the Ravens should win. They'll lose. Saints take it all and then announce their move to San Antonio during the victory parade. This will ignite a storm of protest that'll make Katrina look like a picnic.
Oh, and if I'm wrong about any of these, then obviously the referees were inept and the thing was rigged.
