Word Wind

"Great People Doing Great Things"
I read it on the form, printed in italics
Thrown in a trashcan, underlined in black.
No refunds here, no money back.

Several sat about a table in an oval ring,
Sat about to do such a special wondrous thing,
A thing most august, sustained and never fleeting
A genuine and glorious administrative meeting.

A woman sat distracted in red hair teased to puff
With sagging flesh and droopy eyes pretty rough stuff
Men with stooped shoulders, glowing scalps, and tired old bones
Gray bureau hacks and bored old crones.

Then the great wind, turgid prose, superheated air
Spun in many words with a Talmudic flair
Spinning to a word wind, sucking as it went
Depriving any present of all consciousness.

Good God such power, such depth and blandishment
These meetings of such nature, are forces heaven sent.
Punishing the sinners, depriving us of wit.
We know what awaits us when the cyclone's spent.

For this force of nature, God's own will generate
Another form to fill out, and meeting to prostrate.
Create another Word Wind, and it will surely bring

Another day of "Great People Doing Great Things."
