How to write a resume when you've been fired

the area in which to add a paragraph listing any special skills or training which might benefit the organization. For example, proficiency on the computer, number of years experience in customer service, efficiency operating multi phone lines etc... Any details which might enhance your desirability as a prospective employee are appropriate additions.

* Education

This is the heading under which you will list all your formal education and training, including workshops and seminars that might qualify you to pursue a position with this employer.

* Work History

This is where you can list all the jobs you have held, going back ten years. It would be wise to simply list the years of employment rather than the starting and ending date and month. If this way of presenting the time frame is consistent throughout the list of work history, the person perusing the resume will not really zero in on any peculiarity. This is not an effort to be deceitful, but rather a presentation option to allow a better chance of making it to an interview where full disclosure is mandatory.

* References

On all resumes it is standard protocol to simply state, "References furnished upon request." It is never advisable to furnish personal or professional references before an actual interview.

A history of fraud or criminal behavior would be an exception which might require an intermediary like a counselor, therapist, probation officer or spiritual advisor to plead your case and provide evidence of rehabilitation. You would still need the resume, but obtaining an interview might be more of a challenge than you could accomplish based on the resume alone.

Even if you are walking in to fill out applications at job sites, if you have a well organized resume in the above format available, you can often skip filling out the application which might want more detailed information about past employers than you are ready to reveal, and simply write across the application, "See attached Resume."

This methodology might afford you an interview and when the potential employer considers your entire persona in conjunction with your experience, expertise and a reasonable explanation of your past termination, you might just get hired and be able to put your past behind you and enjoy fresh start with a brand new employment opportunity.
