"I've already told you, I wasn't with Erika last night. I haven't seen her since Thursday."
"So what was your jacket doing next to her dead body?"
"How many times do I have to say the same thing? I let her borrow my jacket the last time we went out. She was cold. I was being a gentleman. When did that become a crime?"
"It became a crime the day a woman turned up dead in the woods less than a mile from your house with your jacket laying next to her. Why'd you do it, Robert?"
"I didn't do it! Why would I kill my own girlfriend?"
"I don't know. Why don't you tell me?"
"Ok, cool it, both of you. Robert, sit tight we'll be back in a second. Mitch, can I talk to you for a minute?"
"Why'd you pull me out? I almost had him."
"You don't know that it was him."
"Yes I do. I can see it in his eyes. The kid's lying through his teeth"
"I think you should let someone else take over. This case hits way to close to home for you. I don't think you're ready for-"
"Don't you dare make this about Mandy."
"Mitch. It's too soon for you to be back at work."
"Unbelievable! I knew you were going to pull this crap. Mandy's murder has nothing to do with this investigation."
"Crap? Mitch, she was your daughter for Chris sakes. I don't think you-"
"If you're done preaching, I have a suspect to finish talking to."
"Fine. But I'm going in with you."
"Suit yourself. Just don't get in my way."
"Hey Robert, sorry to keep you waiting. This is my partner, Christine."
"Can I go home yet?"
"Nope. We've got a few more questions. Tell me again, when was the last time you saw Erika?"
"Thursday. We had dinner. I lent her my jacket. I took her home around 10"
"And where were you again on Saturday?"
"I was at the library till two. Then I took my mom to lunch."
"So you mean to tell me that-just a sec. Hello? Yes it is. Yes I am. Yes. You're sure? Thank you very much. Goodbye."
"Well?"
"That was the restaurant. Your story checks out, Robert."
"So can I go now? Please?"
"Yes, you may. We'll call you if we have any more questions. Sorry we kept you so long."
"Finally!"
"Mitch?"
"I was so sure. I wanted it to be him."
"I know. It's been really tough. You're doing really well. I don't know how- "
"Christine? Come here, hun."
"Oh dammit. I didn't mean to cry. I just I'm so sorry, Mitch."
"It's ok to cry. You don't have to be tough all the time, Christine. She was your daughter too"
