Some people believe that love can be found at first sight, but for me it's all in the first kiss. A kiss is such a delicate encounter, so intimate, and also vulnerable that it can often be a very daunting experience, especially for beginners. We have all heard the horror stories of hiccups, tangled braces etc, so is it any wonder that many of us become nervous wrecks in the moments leading up to that first tender kiss?
As nerve-wracking as it may seem, the most important thing to remember is to enjoy it. To share a good kiss' with somebody, you should always feel comfortable, because if you're not, the kiss will be spoiled for both of you. And in most cases, that first kiss is such a private moment that it's best not to share it with an audience. Be selfish, keep the memory for yourself.
The best way to begin a kiss (in my opinion) is to gently let your lips touch, and then move away just for a second. Far enough so that you can still feel the warmth of your partner's breath, but no further than a few inches. Stay close, and after a moment let your lips touch again. Maybe a little firmer, or even parting your lips if it feels comfortable.
If the object of your desire has chosen to part their lips, it would then be acceptable to introduce your tongue. Never force your tongue into somebody's mouth. Not only can it be unpleasant for your partner, but it can also be very painful for you if they choose to close their mouth. A kiss is a slow, sensual way to build passion, and so should never begin in a forceful manner.
As the kiss progresses, let your hands rest where they are comfortable. That could be on your partner's back, their hips or face, and even running your fingers through their hair. Remember to breathe steadily (normally through the nose), and avoid letting excess saliva build up in your mouth. Close your eyes if it helps, or peep if you want to, and don't forget to smile afterwards!
There is no right or wrong way to kiss somebody, and every person kisses differently. You may find sometimes that somebody kisses too roughly, or uses too much/not enough tongue; sometimes you may be put off by someone's oral hygiene, but in the end a kiss is all about personal preference. Finding the perfect kiss is a wonderful experience, so be sure to enjoy every second of it. As the saying goes, we all have to kiss a few frogs before we find a prince, so pucker up and unleash those lips!
