Poetry: Longing

I didn't see you today
But my eyes remained focused.
Didn't hear your voice,
Although my ears still hear the music.
Couldn't hold you,
But my arms embrace your presence.
Couldn't smell you,
Yet I still breathe in your essence.
Your lips couldn't grant me a kiss,
Still, sweet nectar remains to the taste.
Our eyes didn't lock
But I can still see your face.
I spoke about love, and you couldn't hear my words.
So I passed them through thought
Hoping that your heart heard.
I couldn't catch your tears,
But you saved them from me.
I asked you for a chance,
And you gave one to me.
Consider me as I consider you...
To not have you in my life,
I wouldn't know what to do.
Your smile breaks down all of my barriers.
For me to be complete,
I tell all I have to marry her.
I'm thinking of you, although you weren't here.
Erasing all doubt and swallowing fear...
