There are many great gifts for photography lovers. Whether they like to take digital or SLR photographs, use colour or black-and-white, or just take holiday snaps of the family.
Photography is an expensive hobby, and any gifts that help the avid photographer keep going are always going to be appreciated.
PAPER
With the advent of home computers, printing out your photographs at home is really easy. However, photographic paper is still relatively expensive. Treat your photographer friend to a pack of ordinary paper or speciality paper.
You can buy paper that will make it look like your photo has been printed onto canvas, making it look like an oil painting. You can get matte and gloss paper, and paper that has a silk sheen to it. You can buy paper in many different sizes. Check which size your friend's printer takes.
EQUIPMENT
If your friend likes to set up and take photographs indoors, then some equipment such as reflective sheets, backgrounds or different height tripods might be appreciated.
SOFTWARE
There are many different types of software out there, and your friend probably has a favourite. It might be that they would like the latest version of this software. If they already have this, then look at the card-making software, or speciality photo-editing software packages.
INK
Ink for the home computer to allow him/her to print off the photos is always in short supply.
PRINTER
Perhaps you can afford to buy your friend a mini printer. The type that you just dock the memory card into and then print directly onto the paper would make a good travelling aid.
BOOKS
Books about famous photographers would be nice. Big arty books are quite expensive, but are gorgeous to look at..
FRAMES
Frames and mounts are a repeated expense for the keen photographer, who often just files his pictures away. Buy some great frames and encourage him/her to put up the photographs around his/her home, or give them away as gifts.
You can get frames in many different sizes including tiny ones to go on the Christmas tree or on key chains.
DIGITAL PICTURE FRAMES
Digital picture frames are a great new idea. You park your memory card in the back, and they cycle through your photos, giving you an every-changing display. Look out for solar powered models!
If you get several little things, present them in a gift package or gift basket to make them extra special.
