What are some examples of corruption involving water and what is the impact of the corruption on people and communities?

Title endorsed in part by:

People tend to take water for granted. The majority of the population views water as a free commodity that will continually flow out of the water tap. It is so common that many people overlook the idea of excessive usage and shortage of supply. This is impacted by the water possibly containing micro-bacteria and harmful microscopic entities. The idea of water being corrupted and impacting people and their communities is a reality.

This reality was experienced by me first hand when I moved into a rural area. It was after many years of living in either an urban or suburban lifestyle. In a rural town one does not worry about watering their plants or how nice the lawn looks. It's not about "Keeping up with the Jones's," but about the viable role water plays in everyday life. In a rural community one may find it more important to water the vegetable garden for this provides food. Water takes on a whole new meaning in a rural area. Until you lose it one does not understand how important water is in everyday life.

When the water for your home is provided by a well life does change. If the electric goes out there is no longer power to pump the water. Without water one can not flush toilets, cook, wash clothes and etc The well water can also run dry due to many people using the same vein of water. Sometimes when the water table gets low bacteria and sand starts to pump up along with the once clean H2O. Living in a rural area changed my outlook on water consumption.

Everyone should experience living in a rural or underdeveloped area so they could understand how precious water is to the surrounding population. A neighbor decides to create a garbage dump in their backyard. This causes toxins to leak into the water table. Years later a common disease is noticed to be very popular within the community. In the meantime people are watering lawns, washing cars, doing a few loads of laundry per day. In a rural or underdeveloped area one knows this can cause the well to run dry. In urban and suburban areas one is not worried until an authoritative figure tells them to limit their water consumption.

One should remember the government authorities monitoring water does not necessarily make things safe or increase the quantity. Having a security guard patrolling a reservoir does not keep it safe. They can not possibly patrol the whole area at once. Plus it is impossible to prevent the evaporation of the water as long as individuals keep drawing on it for every need. In order for water to be safe and not scarce, the world population needs to pitch and help prevent this from happening. Until everyone pitches in and treats water like a precious commodity it will not be safe. The impact of water corruption is in the control of every individual in this world.
