MAX viewing is not up to scratch. I am in the movie industry at this time, I sell DVD's both theatrical and straight to DVD movies. I can personally tell you that in the long time IMAX systems have been around they have had numerous opportunities in regards to featuring movies in their cinemas, however here in Australia they are completely focused on the documentaries.

I had conducted some research into the matter and found that there was a large demand for feature films to be presented at the IMAX, so I decided to take a firsthand look. When I sat down in the viewing room and noticed the very large screen, but also noticed how it would curve at the right and left side of the screen. This made it extremely difficult to focus on the complete picture, and thankfully I did not have to follow a story line because certain angles in my vision were blind until I had to physically turn my head in various positions.

When we are watching a movie we are doing many things, we look, we listen, we feel and we emote. When watching a movie that requires some sort of concentration in order to follow a plot of happening in the film, we would have to simultaneously engage in these senses, and if we have to break concentration then we would loose our train of thought and therefore loose the ability to fully concentrate.

Now these are really small matters which really some people would turn and say, who cares? I care. Novelties in life are very rampid at this time; there are gimmicks everywhere these days. And the IMAX is a gimmick. Hoyts, Village and Greater Union are better equipped for viewing pleasure and comfort. That's all the viewing public is going to need and want.

Besides the fact that i personally find the IMAX overwhelming, I am sure that people who have problems seeing clearly, physical difficulties in the movability of your neck to quickly view certain blind angles, than you are going to have a lot of difficulty watching a feature film at your local IMAX.

Can we talk about pricing? It is a joke at the price we must pay to get into the IMAX, then the food cost even more! I'm sorry IMAX but you are just another gimmick in this world of useless inventions, and you will remain a gimmick until the next breakthrough in viewing technology.

Stay indoors; go to your local cinema. Fork out the extra money for Gold class if you want a much better experience in your viewing environment. If it's the IMAX novelty you're after, then go ahead. The documentaries they show are quite nice and informative, but let's not forget the major headache you have leaving the cinema, and the hole it leaves in your pocket afterwards.
