The critic's joy, the writer's despair
A poem's a reflection of its owner's soul.
Written in part so he may be whole.
He writes it not for the reader's joy.
His work is not someone else's toy.
He crafts it with care, a touch here and there
Or throws it together, with garish flare.
Yet others will come and take it away
And make it a beast that he must slay
This poem's a gift from my soul to you
Not simply to give you something to do
It's meant to show, and help you see
All the emotions tormenting me
