Good projects for helping kids get involved in the environment

Good projects for helping kids get involved in the environment is to get them outside. Put them in the environment that you want them to get involved in.

When going to the beach, a park or just to the grocery store, take along a small garbage bag. Pick up garbage that you see. While picking up garbage/discard items, also teach children safety in handling these items.
You don't have to go out of your way to do this, just pick up the rubbish that is in your path.

Create a compost pile or bin. The kids will get excited and want to see what is happening with everything that they put in the compost bin.

Recycle - This works with the composting also. You can recycle cans and the children can benefit from the learning experience and they can get a little extra spending money.

Animals - Learn about different animals and their benefit to the food chain.

Take a nature walk - You can teach children about all the benefits of Mother Nature.

Ranger Rick - This is a magazine that will help children with inside activities to learn more about the environment.

Clothing - Children outgrow their cloths so fast. Have them do a round up of clothes they no longer like or wear and donate them to a charity, instead of throwing them out.
