Garbage bags and Storage bins, need I say more?
Yet, I will.
The winter months finally behind us, and yet surrounding our every step through the basement are endless reminders, from the snow shoes, to the winter clothing, to the tracks of muddy shoe prints, winter is everywhere!
It's okay, BREATHE! Take a moment and then get those garbage bags and storage bins out and prepare for a little spring/summer relief!
The first thing you want to do is pile.....pile everything that is not spring or summer into one area in your basement. This way, there is no need for countless running back and forth, detective slewing in the crack and nooks of your basement's every crevice. Do it all at once. Go through every nook and cranny and get everything that is winter together and then........open up the bags and bins.
Once you have everything winter in one place its' time to assign every item a ranking. Some items will be ranked as garbage, so badly beaten, broken or otherwise of no use to you or any other, that the only alternative is GARBAGE. These items can be placed immediately into one of your heavy duty garbage bags.
Then we have our, I love this, definitely will use it again ranking, our, this is too small, or I'm bored with this, or, I have or am going to replace this ranking, and finally, I'm not to sure about this ranking.
For the ranking of love and definite, get the storage bin out, and start packing. Make sure of course, that whatever you are packing is clean. If need be, a quick trip to the laundry room will suffice. You will want to add some sort of refreshening aroma to your bins, to ensure that come next winter, your loves and definites have not sunk to the level of NEVER AGAIN! Some aroma suggestions would include a breathing bag of pot pourri, {a bag with small holes in it}, spraying the bins first with a febreeze type product, or even putting in some of those car tree fresheners.
For those items, too small, bored with or replacing, you can either use a garbage bag or other type of bag and put all items therein, and DONATE to your local charities, community centers, shelters, and the like, or offer to family and friends, or, BOTH :O)
Finally, for those items you are not completely sure about, follow the same guidelines for the "I loves" ranking but mark your bin as "undecided". These are the items you will want to go through FIRST, come next winter, so you can decide whether or not you want to make room for them in your "winter routine set up".
Now of course, there's
