One and Only
He is my one and only,
So far off and so lonely.
Whose yearning has no sound,
Whose heart cannot be found.
He is my only lover,
Quite unlike any other.
While he struggles with himself,
I wait upon my shelf.
For I cannot hunger, cannot cling,
Or try to press on him anything.
But stand by him silent with no words to say,
And try to help him find his way.
For he is my one forever,
For worse or for better.
All others I forsake,
His love alone I take.
He's my tears and he's my laughter,
My joy and sorrow ever after.
My sunlight and my rain,
My happiness and my pain.
I can't regret nor wish for more,
Although he'll never be all I was looking for.
I may spend my life trying to understand,
What always brings me home to him again.
Except......
He is my one and only,
When I'm sad and when I'm lonely.
The one I'm dreaming of,
The only man I love.
