Poetry: School

by Ken Scholl

Created on: July 12, 2008

Check this out, just this here
The rhyme I present, true n' clear
It's 'bout your life, a choice or two
Respond, take right or fall straight through?

Yeah it's daunting, I feel the vibe
Scary, it's just part of the rhyme
'Cause it's just apprehension
No more than is faced in every dimension

But it's the best sacrifice, bro
One that helps, hurts, but you grow
You learn, you mature, find life's cure
You'll be fine, exempt from it, pure

I know what you're thinkin'
I'm thinking too, just blinkin'
Trying to make sense
Fighting to scale this fence

It's an abomination, one to repulse
But we fight it, follow your impulse
Close your eyes, load the rack
Ready your aim, cock it back
Squeeze the trigger, release the attack

Don't look away, keep up your guard
Follow it through, fury flows, fight hard
For it's just two years, two of your life
If you're really daring, 4, but you'll have a wife
School's but a season, passing, worth any strife...
